We’re excited to announce the launch of the world's first peer-to-peer metasearch, a revolutionary new web app, enabling anyone to discover a growing network of vacation rental listings that can be booked directly with a property owner or manager. This major milestone represents a momentous shift from being a one-sided infrastructure provider to an ecosystem set to empower participants with unlimited growth potential.
The Journey to Search
Bootstrapping Network Growth
The Dtravel ecosystem has come a long way from its direct booking website builder.
Similar to how Shopify revolutionized e-commerce by empowering vendors to sell directly to consumers, Dtravel began by enabling property managers to create their own vacation rental site and accept bookings using either crypto or fiat currencies.
This led to a decentralized network of listings that can be booked peer-to-peer, leveraging blockchain and smart contract technology to ensure that vacation rental operators maintain full control over their business and brand.
As a reward for bootstrapping network supply growth, vacation rental operators who created a site and launched listings earned TRVL, Dtravel’s native ecosystem token, for every peer-to-peer booking. Not only did these rewards act as an incentive, but they ensured vacation rental operators would continue to share in the future success of the network.
Rather than being forced to pay excessive commission fees charged by centralized booking platforms like Airbnb, this foundational product enabled travelers to book peer-to-peer, laying the groundwork for a new way to discover and book vacation rentals.
Decentralizing Listing Supply with the Nite Protocol
In February, we released the Nite Protocol litepaper, a document outlining our plan to create an open-sourced system for solving the complex connectivity and data accessibility issues in the vacation rental industry. Using blockchain technology and a domain-specific knowledge representation language (DSL) called Dusk, the Nite Protocol ingests vacation rental property data, enabling a seamless way for anyone to access listings and build innovative solutions.
For Dtravel, the Nite Protocol will offer a way to increase the number of discoverable vacation rental listings at scale, while decentralizing network supply. Instead of forcing adoption of Dtravel’s website builder, existing direct booking sites will gain exposure from Dtravel Search by simply adopting the Nite Protocol.
Over the last four months, Dtravel, alongside its founding partners, have been actively iterating on the Nite Protocol. What is a Metasearch?
A metasearch engine aggregates listings from multiple sources, allowing users to search and compare options in one place. Unlike traditional metasearch engines, Dtravel’s metasearch (Search), does not include listings from online travel agencies (OTAs). Only directly bookable vacation rental listings can appear in Dtravel Search results. This approach empowers travelers to discover and book vacation rentals with fiat or crypto directly, avoiding the excessive commission fees charged by OTAs like Airbnb.
How Dtravel Search Differs from Airbnb
Unlike Airbnb and other OTAs, Dtravel does not facilitate vacation rental bookings. Instead, Dtravel Search helps travelers discover listings that can be booked directly with owners and operators using either fiat or crypto. When a traveler clicks on a listing, they will be taken to the owner or operator’s own vacation rental site to complete the booking. This approach allows travelers to avoid platform fees and secure better rates.
How Can I Add My Airbnb Listings to Dtravel’s Metasearch?
In order to add your vacation rental listings to the Dtravel Search (metasearch) you need to have your own direct booking site and the ability to accept peer-to-peer payments.

Whats Next Inside the Dtravel App
Over the next few months there will be a number of major feature and product releases in store for the Dtravel web app.
Here’s a brief overview:
- Search: Improvements to Dtravel’s metasearch will include enhanced user experience, filtering and listing discovery tools.
- AI Search: Your own AI agent for planning a trip and finding you the perfect stay based on your personal preferences.
- Dtravel Rewards: Contribute to ecosystem growth, collect points and become eligible for TRVL rewards.
- Manage Bookings: View booking history and manage existing reservations.
- Staking: Stake TRVL and boost your holdings with ecosystem funded rewards.
Dtravel Rewards Program
Dtravel is a peer-to-peer vacation rental ecosystem powered by its native token, TRVL. The TRVL token enhances the experience within the Dtravel ecosystem and offers holders the ability to participate in governance, receive givebacks, and stake to earn.
In the coming weeks, we will begin to roll out the Dtravel Rewards, an incentive program focused on encouraging community members to contribute to ecosystem growth initiatives. Accessible within the Dtravel App, these incentive programs will include tasks that contribute to network growth in key cities, operator or booking referrals, social quests, providing liquidity, and more.
The Dtravel Rewards program will be funded by the Community Growth Fund, from which a significant amount of TRVL will be available to participants. Holders who receive TRVL for contributing to the Dtravel Rewards program will be whitelisted to participate in upcoming staking programs.
