Tax Collection & Remittance

There are only a few countries and states that exempt short-term lodging, vacation rentals, and hotels from taxes. These taxes (known by many names: sales tax, VAT, occupancy tax, lodging tax, room tax, accommodations tax, bed tax, hotel tax, etc.) are paid to City, County and/or State tax agencies monthly or quarterly.

These taxes are charged on total consideration (money or value) received from the guest, including cleaning fees, pet fees, and any other mandatory fees. Refundable deposits are not taxable. As the popularity and growth of vacation rentals has risen; so, has the enforcement of these taxes. Tax agencies nationwide and internationally are monitoring sites in search of violators.

Dtravel doesn’t file or remit your sales taxes for you.
