What is a blockchain?

A blockchain is a digital ledger that securely records transactions. These transactions are validated by many independent “nodes” (computers connected to a blockchain network) all over the world. The more nodes participating in a network, the greater the security of a blockchain.

Transactions are processed at regular intervals by nodes in batches called “blocks” and chronologically “chained together to create a record of the network’s entire transaction history, hence “blockchain”.
