As we enter August, we're excited to share ecosystem metrics, the latest updates and a nearterm development roadmap. From the launch of the world's first direct booking metasearch for vacation rentals to the introduction of the Dtravel Rewards program, our community now has more ways than ever to contribute to and benefit from the Dtravel network. With 150 Million TRVL in rewards up for grabs, innovative tools like Airbnb Sync making it easier for operators to join, and the integration of crypto payments on Base, we're setting the stage for a dynamic season ahead.

To enhance transparency and drive collective growth, we're introducing key metrics that will be regularly shared with our community. These metrics are designed to give you a clear view of Dtravel's progress and provide tangible goals that we can achieve together. By contributing to these metrics, you can directly earn rewards as part of our Dtravel Rewards program.

Earn up to $5M USD
- Anyone can now earn by contributing to the growth of Dtravel!
- Funded by 150 Million TRVL (approx. $5M USD), the Dtravel Rewards program enables anyone to earn real value in exchange for contributing to listing growth, bookings, and community engagement.
- Launched on July 31, 2024, Dtravel Rewards: Season 1 runs until October 31, 2024.
- Collect points by completing activities that lead to the growth of the Dtravel ecosystem. Points will be converted to TRVL at the end of Season 1.

Search for Vacation Rental Listings
- In June we launched the world's first direct booking metasearch for vacation rentals.
- For the first time, travelers can use Dtravel to discover vacation rentals that can be booked peer-to-peer with fiat or crypto.

Add Listings to Dtravel with Airbnb Sync
- New Airbnb Sync streamlines creating and adding listings to Dtravel!
- Airbnb hosts can now create a free direct booking site or a single listing page in seconds by importing their assets and availability from Airbnb.
- Create an account, complete onboarding and connect your Airbnb account to add vacation rental listings to the Dtravel network.
- Listings created will automatically get pushed to Dtravel Search and Google Vacation Rentals.

Crypto Payments on Base are Live
- In order to meet the demand for crypto payments, Dtravel has integrated with Base, an L2 blockchain supported by Coinbase.
- Vacation rental operators can now offer guests the ability to book stays with crypto while enjoying low-cost and lighting fast transactions.

Booking Site and Listing Improvements
- Adding vacation rental listings to Dtravel means you get exposure from Dtravel Search and Google Vacation Rentals, and ultimately, more bookings!
- The best part? All bookings are direct, meaning no delayed payments or restricted guest communication. Your listings. Your bookings. Your revenue.
- To make this possible, Dtravel provides vacation rental operators with a number of streamlined ways to get started. Choose between a free single listing page or complete direct booking site.
- Most recently, we’ve optimized the rates and availability experience for operators with multiple listings on Dtravel (e.g. multi-calendar views).
Sunsetting the Dtravel Affiliate Program
- Dtravel Rewards enables anyone to earn by contributing to the growth of the ecosystem. Therefore we’ll be shutting down the Dtravel Affiliate Program.
- This decision was made to minimize confusion and extend the bandwidth necessary to support the Dtravel Rewards program.
Looking Ahead: Ecosystem Roadmap
Goal: $20k / Month in TRVL Token Buybacks
- In order to reduce inflation and circulating supply, we’ve set a goal to buy back $20k worth of TRVL tokens per month.
- To achieve this goal, we’ll be focused on growing vacation rental listings in high-demand cities and key markets.
- An increase in listings, especially in markets where travelers most want to book, lead to ecosystem fees.
- 100% of these fees will go towards the token buyback program once we achieve our goal of reaching $20k / month in revenue.

TRVL as a Gas Token
- We’re preparing to deploy new Nite Protocol contracts, which will not only bring more vacation rental data on-chain, but enable TRVL to be used as a gas token.
- This means that, in the future, whenever there is a booking, a Nite Token is transferred and an amount of (n) TRVL can be deducted from the contract’s balance and sent to the Dtravel Treasury.
- Funds from the Dtravel Treasury will be used to support token buybacks, rewards, and community growth initiatives.
- Before TRVL can be used as a gas token, vacation rental operators using the network will require a streamlined way to acquire and top up a balance of TRVL.
Listing Growth: Dtravel Connect and Nite Protocol
- Dtravel is built on a decentralized and open-sourced data later called the Nite Protocol.
- The Nite Protocol enables vacation rental operators to retain complete ownership and control over their booking data, reputation and business.
- Dtravel Search is the first app built on the Nite Protocol. Any vacation rental listing that interfaces with the Nite Protocol (e.g. listings created using Dtravel) will be discoverable by Dtravel Search.
- Since many vacation rental operators already have their own direct booking site, we’ll be introducing Dtravel Connect, a Nite Protocol interface and crypto payment widget.
- Dtravel Connect can be added to any existing (non-Dtravel powered) direct booking site, giving operators the ability to accept crypto payments and gain listing exposure through Dtravel Search.
- Dtravel Connect development is already underway and will first be adopted by a globally recognized property management solution provider.
Dtravel AI
- We’ve continued to improve upon our AI Search agent, Sensei, and are preparing for a beta release in the coming weeks.
- AI Search will assist travelers in learning about a specific location and discovering stays that best match their personal preferences.
- The more listings added to the Dtravel network, the more value AI Search will bring to travelers.
Decentralized Reviews
- The architecture for a new review system is currently underway.
- Our goal is to introduce reviews that reflect the truthfulness of a property listing rather than perpetuating a system based on fear that penalizes vacation rental operators.
- Reviews will leverage TRVL, broadening utility for Dtravel’s native ecosystem.
Ecosystem Staking
- As outlined in TRVL Token Economics, staking is one of the primary utility pillars for the TRVL token.
- Our plan has been to introduce ecosystem staking following the conclusion of Dtravel Rewards: Season 1.
- Given recent community feedback, we’re looking into introducing temporary staking options to meet ongoing demand.
