4.0 Optimize Third-Party Booking Platforms for Direct Stays
One of the major benefits for listing on a third-party booking platform comes with built-in demand and traffic. Guests from all over the world are searching for properties just like yours. However, guests are starting to learn that if they can book directly with a host, they will benefit from significant cost savings if they can avoid platform fees. Additionally, if a guest is able to contact you directly, there is always the opportunity to negotiate a discounted rate.

Optimizing your listings on third-party booking platforms will not only increase your total booked nights, but specific tweaks will also signal to guests that you are a professional host with a direct booking website.

4.1 How to Optimize Your listings for Direct Stays
  1. Add your brand name to the end of your listing title (e.g. “2 Bed Cabin w/ Sauna & Wifi - Berry Mountainview Stays”)
  1. Include the most important features and selling points to your listing title
  1. Use high-quality, professional photos
  1. Create a small, free-standing sign that clearly communicates your business name and phone number. Take a photo of the sign sitting on a table or desk and include the photo in one of your first five images
  1. Add your company or brand name to your account and logo to your profile picture
  1. In your profile, clearly state who you are and what your company is within the first three lines (e.g. “Welcome to Berry Mountainview Stays by Fiona Berry. I'm the owner of Berry Mountainview Stays Inc. and have been a professional host for over 12 years.”)
  1. Toward the end of your profile, you can add a line that says something along the lines of: “Search “Berry Mountainview Stays” to learn more about our properties, services and exclusive rates. We look forward to hosting you soon!”
